Preschool & Youth Programs (September 14, 2015 - June 25, 2016)



Kinder Dance
Learn new skills while you develop your athletic fitness in this introductory program taught byone of our Dance Instructors.
Dates: Thursday
Time: 5:00 – 6:00 pm (ages 3-5 years)
Location: Studio
Registration required. Members only.
Indoor Playground (Ages 3 - 7 yrs)
Drop in with the whole family and join your kids as they run, jump, climb and balance on a variety of age appropriate equipment.
*Children under the age of 3 must be accompanied byan adult or youth over the age of 14 years
Location: Gym
Wednesday: 10:45 - 11:45am
Friday: 10:45 - 11:45am
* Non-Members welcome with purchase of a Visitor Pass.

Play Zone (Ages 3 mos - 7 yrs*)
Play Zone is a supervised drop-in program where your child will be exploring through play, making friends and being creative. We encourage you topack a healthy snack.
Location: Play Zone
Mon. - Thurs.: 9:00 - 11:30am & 5:00 - 8:00pm
Friday: 9:00 - 11:30am
* Parents/Guardians must remain in the building to access Play Zone services.
Saturday 9-12:00pm




Ball Hockey (Ages 6-8, 9-12 yrs)
Non-competitive ball hockey that encourages teamwork and fair play.
Location: Gym
Wednesday: 6:45 - 8:00pm
* Non-Members welcome with purchase of a Visitor Pass
Gymnastics (Ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 yrs)
YMCA Gymnastics is a recreational program in which children work on balance, coordinationand self-confidence.
Registration required. Members only.
Location: Gym
Tuesday: 4:00 - 5:00pm, 5:00 - 6:00pm, 6:00 - 7:00pm;7:00 - 8:00pm
Sunday: 9:00 - 10:00am, 10:00-11:00am, 11:00am - 12:00pm

H.E.A.T. (Ages 12 - 15 yrs)
Understanding the basics of using wellness equipment, etiquette, basic training principles and nutrition in the wellness centre are key to building life long habits for Healthy, Energized and Active Teens. This program is meant to establish a basic understanding to ensure that H.E.A.T participants can safely and effectively participate in a conditioning program within the wellness centre. Participants earn “wellness access” once they complete the required sessions.

Judo (Ages 6 - 12 yrs)
A highly competitive system that teaches the use of leverage to flip or throw an opponent of any size. This art originates in Japan.

Kung-Fu (Ages 6-12 yrs)
This Oriental discipline focuses on the individual’s pursuit of the perfection of character. A Chinese martial art using strikes and kicks focusing on the development of balance, agility, flexibility, discipline and self confidence.

Y Saturday Morning Experience
Join us Saturday Mornings at the Y! Each Saturday we will present a new theme and have a morning filled with physical activity, baking, crafts and skill development. Campers will be split into groups based on their age. Weekly themes will be posted on our Facebook Page and at the Membership Desk on a monthly basis. 
Registration is required.

Youth Boot Camp (Ages 10 - 13 yrs)
This action-packed class incorporates traditional body weight and cardio exercises. This class is open to youth of all fitness levels.
Location: Energy Zone
Thursday: 5:30 - 6:30pm
 Y Jr. Leaders (Ages 9 - 13 yrs)
Do you want to make new friends? Build your confidence and skills for the future? Help your community? Feel even better about yourself? If so, the YMCA Youth Leadership Program could be for you. Designed especially for youth between 9 and 13 years old, the program takes the best of today’s youth and helps them become the Leaders of Tomorrow. Weekly themed activities include Art Attack, Nature, Silly Science and High/Low Ropes.

Monday: 6:30 - 8:00pm
 Youth Soccer (Ages 6-8, 9-12 yrs)
The Youth Soccer Association is a league that champions fairplay, teamwork and sportsmanship to prepare youth for a future in sports and recreation. The league will be officiated and supervised by two qualified staff members. Participants will play teams each week and work on developing soccer skills in a game setting against children of a similar skill level. *Running shoes mandatory*.

 NEW! Girl Fit
Girl Fit is a fun, active, one-hour workout ‘just for girls’ ages 8 to 13. Enjoy a variety of fitness activities, such as group cycling, boot camp, and partner workouts, while meeting new friends. This instructor-led program will make you giggle and sweat at the same time!

 Youth Yoga
Energize, rejuvenate and strengthen yourself through yoga. Relieve stress, create balance in your mind and body through exercises in breath control, stability, flexibility and alignment. Bring a mat.
Date: Wednesdays
Time: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
*Youth yoga ends April 27, 2016
Wellness Access for Youth (Ages 10 - 13 yrs)
When youth participate in physical activities with family it strengthens potential for healthier lifestyles long term. Youth ages 10-13 may access the Wellness Centre with a parent and/or guardian 16 years of age or older after completing an orientation with a wellness staff member. 

Youth orientation is similar to the adult orientation (ensure a safe and balanced program), except a parent and/or guardian MUST be present. Please see a wellness staff member to set up an orientation. After receiving the orientation, youth ages 10-13 must always be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian 16 years of age or older when accessing the Wellness Centre. 

Youth that are 14 years old may access the Wellness Centre without a parent or guardian. Please note any youth between the ages of 12-15 years are encouraged to take the H.E.A.T program to learn how to safely use the wellness equipment, find out about the importance of nutrition and exercise, and have a personalized fitness program developed.



Canadian Safety Council At Home Alone (Ages 10 yrs)
This fun and active course helps prepare children to be athome alone and how to respond to medical emergencies.
Members: $30 / Non-Members: $40

Canadian Safety Council Babysitting Course (12 yrs*)
Designed to increase confidence and provide hands on experience and skills needed to be a competent babysitter. Must attend all classes.
